Thai ethnic people in Mai Chau are White Thai (Black Thai live in Dien Dien Phu, some 300km away from Mai Chau, Hoa Binh)

The houses are quite large with palm leaf roofs and polished bamboo-slat floors. The kitchen is located in the center of the house; the cooking as well as the making of the colorful tho cam, the material used by Thai minority to make their clothes, takes place in the kitchen. The windows are large and decorated with patterns. Each house also has a pond to breed fish ( as the picture, you can see right at front of family)

Maichau valley is arounded by a huge mountain, a good choice for people who like adventure treks

every nights, local band with Thai girls and boys in the village (every village has at least one band of music) will perform music with thai traditional love songs and dancing

Mai Chau has a population of about 47,500 inhabitants that belong to different ethnic minority groups such as the White Thai, H'mong, Zao, Muong, Tay, Hoa and Viet. The Mai Chau hill tribes are warm and welcoming, and famous for their handicrafts - in particular for their skills in embroidering clothes.
